Dr. David Koehn
Dave Koehn has over 25 years of successful business experience in dealing with both Federal and State Governments. Dave has extensive background in providing a wide array of organizational development, business development, change-transformation, and acquisition management services.
With over 15 years of specific experience as a Chief Learning Officer, Dave spearheaded the formulation, design, and implementation of personal and organizational learning strategies and programs. His CLO experiences are complemented with 20 plus years holding senior leadership positions in the field of learning services building teams across a variety of profit and nonprofit enterprises with a background of successes in banking/finances/insurance, rehabilitation, teaching, manufacturing, human/health service, quality assurance, quality control, technical management, research, marketing, logistics, and systems analysis.
Dr. Koehn has spent fifteen years in external consulting expanding existing client work and creating new clients for change management products and services. He found, formulated, won, and executed from cradle to grave numerous new business initiatives having done extensive business development, capture management, proposal writing, program management and execution of consulting services.
Throughout his career, Dave has led and transformed a variety of major organizations to include hospital and school systems, manufacturing, consulting, high-tech, research-based, private/nonprofits and government agencies. His expertise spans communication, public speaking, learning/development, organizational design and administrative services across a variety of industries. His competencies include managerial leadership, strategic planning, and organizational/business dynamics that include, finance, cost analysis, contracting, purchasing, sales/marketing, and labor relations. Dr. Koehn is a subject matter expert in human capital management, workforce transformation, decision making/problem solving, innovation management, executive coaching, talent management and competitiveness assessment. He has more than 10 years experience implementing large-scale change IT programs. He is an expert adviser to Fortune 500 companies that increase customer satisfaction and improve teaming and collaboration.
Dave is a well-known expert in the field of change dealing with the change readiness factors associated with infrastructure, organization and people. Dave is co-inventor of CALM (Change, Adaptation, Learning Model), a robust change methodology that has an embedded enabling software to test drive, sense and respond, and apply lessons learned throughout the life cycle of the change intervention. Dave is a seasoned sage in decision making processes and is capable of devising strategies associated with aligning structure, design, processes, and policies.
Dave is a licensed psychologist (NC) and certified: (1) as a Project Management Professional by PMI and (2) as a Quality Engineer by ASQC. He has over 30 publications and 50 national presentations to his credit, as well as served on numerous boards and has taught at a variety of universities and colleges. Dave has received numerous awards some of which include the Superior Civilian Service Award and the National Research Award from the Federal Government and Humanitarian Health Professional Person of the Year Award from NC. Dave was honorable discharged from the US Army in 1978 as a 1st Lieutenant, Infantry and has an active top-secret security clearance.
Dave graduated in 1974 with a Ph.D. in psychology from University of Notre Dame. Additional academic degrees include: post-doctorate in Management, University of Alabama 1979; M.S. in Psychology, University of Wisconsin, 1970; B.S. in Psychology, Chemistry, and Biology, University of WI, 1969; additional College Courses, University of Toledo, 1965-1968; Army Management Staff College, U.S. Army, 1991.
