Scott C. Hommel
Scott Hommel has over 11 years of legislative,
executive branch government, and strategy development experience
on both the state and federal levels.
Prior to signing on with Peduzzi Associates
on 1 October 2006, Scott served as Deputy Legislative Director
for the National Guard Association of the United States, which
represents the interest of more than 45,000 Army and Air National
Guard Officers on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. In this
capacity, Scott served as the primary legislative action and
strategic advisor for the association and is credited with
reenergizing and refocusing the association's legislative efforts
on Capitol Hill. Prior to being selected for this position
Scott completed 10 years of service in New York State Government,
most recently serving as Deputy Chief of Staff for State Operations
and Director of Government Affairs for the New York National
Guard and New York State Division of Military and Naval Affairs.
Appointed by Governor Pataki to this position, Scott worked
directly for The Adjutant General, State of New York and was
a principal state executive for the Division, as well as the
director all of legislative activity on the federal, state
and local levels of government. After his appointment in September
2001 as Director of Government Affairs, Scott led an aggressive
federal legislative action program that resulted in millions
of dollars worth of military construction funding, counter
drug operations funding, modernized military equipment through
congressional ads, hazardous duty pay for Weapons of Mass Destruction
Civil Support Teams and for the 109th Air Lift Wing. Scott
was also instrumental in working with the National Guard Bureau
and Congress to revise Title 32 law to allow Governors more
control and use of federal funding for Homeland Security missions.
During the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Scott served
with The Adjutant General on the Governors Military Base Task
Force.
Scott has an honorable discharge from the
United States Marine Corps and is a combat veteran of Operation
Desert Storm. He later joined the Army National Guard while
completing a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management
from Nyack College. Scott received a second honorable discharge
in 2000 from the Army National Guard.
His military decorations include: Combat Action
Ribbon, Navy Achievement Medal with Combat Valor, Kuwait Liberation
Medal, Saudi Arabian Defense Medal, Naval Unit Citation, Sea
Service Deployment Ribbon with 2 stars, National Defense Ribbon,
Army Achievement Medal, NYS Conspicuous Service Cross, NYS
Conspicuous Service Star, NYS Aid to Civil Authorities, Rifle
Expert and Division Super Squad Competitor.
